About the musician:

Born in Montreal, John Heward (1934-2018) is internationally recognized as a free jazz percussionist, drummer, improvisor and well-known painter and sculptor. Heward has worked with Paul Bley, Steve Lacy, Joe McPhee, Malcolm Goldstein and many other musicians. He has exhibited his work internationally.
