My interest in observing and recording movement of the ocean began in 2012. I have spent hours observing moving waters in rivers, lakes, oceans and seas. This process has often guided my travel destinations. I have become captivated by the way these bodies of water disclose their secret anatomy, by the flux of their life force, by their continuous rhythms of movement and transformations and by the way they capture and reflect light.

By establishing a static shot I am able to focus and observe details and nuances, which I would never have paid attention to had they been occurring in front of me.

What intrigued me about the waters in Sandy Cove and West Berlin and what prompted me to film them was because I felt that I was experiencing the grace of water’s “breath.”

“Movement, chance, light, growth and decay are the life-blood of nature… When I work with a leaf, rock, stick, it is not just the material in itself, it is the opening into the process of life within and around it.When I leave it, these processes continue.”
